Play helps me each time I reach for a camera to take a photograph.
The images are not about "capturing the moment."
Instead, this process is more about embracing the subject in a manner
that reflects patience, trust and kindness. For years I would hear
other photographers talk about "getting" or "missing the
shot." Original play and photography, what I call image
play, becomes a wonderful dance of belonging, wonder and awe.
Yes, the images can seem fleeting, appearing and then disappearing
within seconds. For me it is about moving beyond being an outsider
or casual observer. Image play is about an invitation to be a part of
the moment, which expresses the magic and joy of the medium. |
